What have I been up to?

Went to the Turner Prize with my friend Zsa Zsa.

Saw the play 'Footsbarn Christmas Cracker' at the Globe Theatre. It was cleverly written and was such fun! Tight rope walking over the audience. Thrilling!

Did some arts and crafts.

I've had tremendous amounts of fun with friends and family. I got the film Coco before Chanel. It's simply Inspiring.

Not much essay writing. Borring. It's killing me!
Hope yours was banging!

Not the most ambitious exhibition. I want to curate a similar exhibition at the gallery space in my uni. It was cute though.

Halloween Double Whammy

Tim Burton's recognisable and fantastic characters are re-incarnate.Tim Walker and Tim Burton work exceptionally well together. The dominant bloody red colour palette and spooky props and costumes are alluring.I like how the 'pyramidial'embellishments on the dress compliment the gnashing teeth on the glaring red spiderman form balloons; not forgetting the 'fetish' boots. Look at the rest of the photos on
HarpersBazaar . They are equally and as charmingly macabre.
Now for a little Halloween tune before getting back to work. This is so funny,in a sardonic sense, please watch.

Liquid Crystal Environment , 1965/2005

At the Serpentine. I might go and see this tommorow.
Listen to this.

I love these people.

Music Spotlight

In line with my blog procrastination day, I've decided to post one of my favourite Banshee songs.Listen to the words, feel the music. This song was the inspiration for the picture partially featured in the header of my blog. This work was one of my entries for the Women's International Exhibition, at RISC, last year. I had it printed as a photograph and framed. Love you Siouxsie. xxx

Good News

I may be working here, once a week, from the 6th October. Can't wait. I'm giving the nice lady, who emailed me on Friday, a polite call tomorrow.I hope this opportunity fits in nicely with my uni schedule.I love libraries. This one's exceptionally cool and the location appears to be 'happening'. I couldn't ask for more really.

Perform yourself differently

This summer I was kindly invited by Szuper galley to be a performer in a new developing work implementing the concept of social choreography. We were asked informally to keep this project under wraps, but I can’t help myself. PLASTIC/GLITTER/BONES has already ‘breached’ this request in his rather apt review of his experience; and I being ‘sheep’ will follow suit, in a subtle rather rushed manner.
I am part of a group of 10. Each day we meet, collectively, for rehearsals which last approximately 7 hours:
Day 1: Briefing and Costumes
Side note- My memory of the order of the following events is flawed.
We were shown clips from 1940’s nuclear war films which were, as you guessed; ridiculous. Propaganda emblazoned; Patriotism; The need to do ‘something’, anything to defeat the enemy. Images of workers stacking bails to prevent nuclear bombs. Cause that really works?
The found footage was not shown to us performers in vain; it was to inspire our synchronised dance moves, so that we felt a connection to the ideology, of that period, and movement of the workers conveyed in the clips.
ooo
We tried on our ever so psychedelic outfits, designed by my multi-talented tutor. Christine I’m talking neon coloured stripes and metallic swimming caps, with ear flaps. Her brief was to design futuristic farming costumes and that she did. We all looked special.
ooo
Day 2: Old house farm
Initially we familiarised ourselves with the choreography devised by Michele. We set off to the location to shoot these steps that emulate farmer people working the field. Our university owns a derelict, but spatially apt, farm so this setting was perfect for us ‘workers’.
This day tested my boundaries in more ways than one. I’m a city slicker. I tried 150% to adjust to the foul smells of farm animal excrement. The activities I underwent were intense and brutal. I was left with scraped elbows and bruises; nevertheless I had a damn good time. I also appreciate how far we have come as a human race with thriving new technology. Just consider, people who had to work land for insane amount of hours and under undesirable conditions.
ooo
All in all I’m having a ball. I am performing myself differently. I really enjoy working with my fellow creatives it’s the best thing that has happened to me in ages.

Social choreography at it's best! I'm still standing.

I like

Slipping into reverie. I can imagine myself as an Eyres character; I have an unusual face, fish lips, uncontrollable hair most days. Did I mention my boyish frame?
I don't know how Bevan constructs the above, but it looks wonderfully dark and mysterious. I see lots of bones, apparitions. I like.

Gareth Pugh Gareth Pugh

The sculptural elements accentuate and extend the forms of these model. Pugh's designs are innovative in changing the way we dress in the future. These 'get ups' are exactly what I need and like.

I feel like this

How about yourself?

Butterfly Jungle

Sophie and I went to see Butterfly Jungle, after visiting our college tutor at Imperial College. We had such a grand time floating with the butterflies and anticipating whether they would land on us or not. Sophie's wish almost came true but to her detriment; a great big moth was flapping its wings behind her and the feeling was not pleasant we were confused as to what was taking place. We were both fearful of the size. Yikes!
It's a shame they were in an artificial environment but I tried to capture then as if they were in their natural habitat.
Picture time:
Note: Much to my lament, I did not have my SLR with me as we did not plan this outing, but I managed to do as best as I could with a standard 10 MP digital camera.

They're so beautiful, I love the markings.

Watch this video. Flutter by.

Walking in my mind

These are my friends.

After the show we decided to play 'Street Peeper'. This is a new feature I am introducing on my blog that highlights the fashion conscious and the best dressed in the Uk.
We stumbled across..more like chased this beautiful young lady; she had such poise and so was wonderfully dressed, which is evident.
